The Lord gives darshan with Varadahasta and also ready to use Discus(Prayoga Chakra). Andal is on one side and Padmavathi Thayar( Princess of Fisherfolks) whom the Lord Married is on His right. Uthsava Murthy is seen receiving Kanyakadhan. The Kshetram is also called Srimad Ashaksha Kshetram as the Lord is omnipresent in each Akshara(letter). The Lord is having Prayoga Chakra as He destroys Veekadakshan and protects the Maharishis. The Lord displays the Kesa ( hair growth at His Tirumudi) to the King by honoring the words of the Archa and hence called Sourirajan. It is customary to offer Pongal at midnight called Muniyodara pongal to fulfill the wishes of the great devotee Mundarayar.
Long back, this temple was near the seashore. But now the sea has drifted back about 10 Kilometers.
