This Divya Desa and Chidambaram's Natraja temple are in the same place. Natarja and his consort Thillai Amman pleased the Lord with Ananda Thandav Nritya when they came here to worship Him along with Thillai Mooayiravar( Shiva's 3000 devotees). Hence the name ThillaiNagar for this place. Panani overwhelmed by the nritya wrote the padam for the Tandava (Vyakaran). It was here that Bharatha established the Bharta Natya Shastra. All types of nritya of this world can be seen here in idol form. Chidambara Rahasya is kept in the Garba griha of Natraja Sannidhi and is shown to the devotees. As in pushkar, one can witness the wonderful sight of the fishes coming to the bank of the pushkarni and taking food from the devotees.
Kattumannar kovil the avathara sthala of sriman Nathamunigal is very near to this place.
