 The Birth Centenary of Shri T.Ranganathan (my father-in-law) is planned to be celebrated on 7th July 2017. The activities planned are - Veda Parayanam, family get-together, donation of a day's meal to all the members of an old-age home and endowment to the school where he studied in Cheyyar. All members of Ranganathan-Jayalakshmi family are requested to contact Santhanam (rsanthanam16@gmail.com) for details. You are also requested to share anecdotes, photos etc. by mail to me for publishing in the July Newsletter.

IMPORTANT EVENTS IN THE FAMILY
*** MICROSOFT SOLITAIRE COLLECTION - I'm sure readers are eager to know whether I improved my rank in any of the events. The answer is Alas, no. My best ranking is still No. 2 that I got in January 2017. After that I finished 4th a few times, in the top 10 a number of times and always in top 20. I will definitely tell you when I achieve First Rank in an event. 
*** SHUBHA DANCES - Shubha's school had their Annual Day in March. Shubha was selected to be part of a Dance as well as a Song rendition. Here is the link to the Dance video.
*** MORE ON SHUBHA Watching a girl-child grow is fascinating. We spent five days with Shubha recently and were happy to see how she and her friends have little tiffs, but make up the next day with beautiful hand-made cards.
*** Urmila has been busy for a long time organising programmes on Saint Ramanuja's thousandth birthday and training the school children. Her school - Padma Seshadi Bala Bhawan - has taken a lead in organising functions and activities. There was a float organised by the school and presentations by the students in a park as well as temples. Urmila's contribution was there in all the programmes. Here are a few photos.
*** Vijaya deserves the appreciation of all for going alone to USA to spend a couple of months with her grand-daughter - Deepti in California. We went to Usha's house in Bellandur to meet Vijaya before her departure to USA. Deepti stays in Fremont and Shoba is also in Fremont. Since Pushpa (Shoba's mother and Amritha's sister) is now in USA, they went to Deepti's house to meet Vijaya. The photo taken at that time is here.
Usha's project in Amsterdam was successfully completed and she has moved back to Bangalore. Efficient bankers are now in great demand and Usha has joined Fincare, a new bank. You can see Usha's position in Fincare Bank by clicking here. Since she found it difficult to commute every day from Kempapura, she has taken a rented house in Bellandur. The house is in a gated community and very nice. Geetha and Mohan are the first in the family to have visited all the 106 Divyadesams. They celebrated the occasion with a get-together in their house in January 2017. We had a very elevating experience with a religious discourse, talks, an excellent lunch and Sayana Seva in Lakshmi Temple next to their house. Sayana Seva was a divine experience. Geetha has joined Shell India in a senior position. Of course it is difficult to say which is the primary occupation of Mohan, Geetha and Usha - visting Vaishnava temples or their job.
*** Raghu (my brother) was prompt in responding to the Newsletter from Brossels and I am reproducing his comments, The newsletter dated 20/01/2017 was very informative and useful for us ( 20,000 km away). Shrivathsa has taken charge as managing director in Vizeum and is in whatsapp. Sowmya Shriram has passed her BEd and MEd after M.COM and is working as PG assistant in Vidya matriculation school, Medavakkam where Srivaishnavi and Vijay anand are studying. Ramya's project in Brussels in Infosys is till Feb 2018. Dhanya has been put in play school from 15th Jan 2017 and it's a gradual build up. first day 30 minutes, 2nd day 1 hr and 3rd day 1.5 hrs and 4,5,6th day till 12 am. She starts full time from 26/01. Her birthday is on 13th Feb( star birthday 20/02) Winter is very severe and goes to -6 in nights. I am travelling back on 1st feb and reaching on 2nd Feb in Etihad airways.
*** Kannan (T.Nagar) and Rajeevi will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary in June. Newsletter wishes them the very best and many more years of togetherness.
*** Chooda who is an excellent cook must be proud about Namitha winning the award as a runner-up in the Super Chef Chennai 2017 contest. Namitha took part in the contest with her friend. Here are the certificate as well as the winning dish.
Neha has appeared for her H.S.C. and has bid goodbye to Sishya school.
*** Rukku's house frontage has been renovated and has a nice look. A Vinayakar idol has also been installed with Puja by a Pandit.
*** Pushpa and her husband left for California in March for their அமெரிக்க நாடாறுமாதம். They will return to India after spending six months with Shoba and family. A photo of Keshav is here.
*** Santhanam must be proud about Radhika being one of the eight journalists to be selected from India to be Media Ambassadors India – Germany in 2017. Radhika and seven others will participate in a one-month academic course at Center for Media Competence at the University of Tübingen, before putting their newly acquired knowledge into practice at editorial departments in Hamburg or Berlin for eight weeks. During this time, the fellows will also have time to pursue their own research ideas. A field trip within Germany, lasting for several days, will be an important additional asset of the program. This is what the Media Ambassadors website says about Radhika.
*** Raghu and Chandra are to be admired for getting adjusted to Kanchipuram life easily. They are very busy going to the temples and also socialising.
*** Hema is busy visiting temples as well as studying Vaishnavism. I think I should start a Question-Answer column on Vaishnavism and request Hema to answer all the readers' queries.

Amritha's travelogue to Jaipur in the form of a letter to her mother (sent in 2001) is the only one which was not published earlier. The articles by Prasad and Aarthi are from earlier editions of the Newsletter. The article by me is from my blog in 2004 to a blog-site. Mukund's article is from his old blog. Kausalya's article is from The Hindu of 2012. Editor's Pages which has a Sudoku - X puzzle, which is a challenging version of Sudoku. It also has a fillable cryptic crossword puzzle , Quiz on TamilNadu and Cryptoquip. Tamil Section has four interesting articles by popular Tamil bloggers in the Net. As the world is Celebrating the thousandth birthday of Ramanuja, I have reproduced an excellent piece on him by Mr. Kannabiran. There is an article on Madurakavi Azhwar and one on visit to Badrinath. The last piece is an interesting collection from popular Tamil magazines.
